Mrs. Schiavo
My name is Laura Schiavo and I have the privilege of being the Orchestra Director at CPMA! I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced orchestra classes. I have played the violin since I was three years old and music is part of who I am, and I have great memories of playing in my own middle school orchestra. I love that I get to share my passion for music with my students as they learn to become amazing musicians themselves! I hope wherever they go after CPMA they can have an appreciation for music and the arts throughout their whole lives.
I have a B.A. in Music Education from Point Loma Nazarene University, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Brandman University. I hold teaching credentials in both music and math, and I love the connections music has in math. I am a certified Suzuki teacher as well as a registered Mark O'Connor fiddle teacher.
I enjoy reading and gardening in my patio in my free time when I am not making music. I also love spending time with my husband Bill, my daughter Rachael, my dog Lucy, and my betta fish Zoom.
